I went to watch this with my sister today, she'd read the book so was definitely more enlightened than I was as we got into the theatre to see the film.
I think it's great cinematography, amazing graphics, fast paced, beautiful soundtrack, suspense filled moments but the same cliched storyline you can expect from a Dan Brown novel. There's an attack on the whole religion of Christianity, the Vatican city has been threatened to be under a siege, priests and cardinals are in conflict and there's a hero with the knowledge of every symbol, sign and the entire history of each nook and cranny of the cathedrals of Vatican City.
Interesting and the 2hours and 18mins quickly fly but it can be tiring to watch, they run around from one church hallway to another, dialogue is long winded and the vast amount of coincidental inside knowledge Langdon has is a bit cringe inducing- it's a bit too convenient for my liking, overall great for Dan Brown fans who want to see the words on the big screen, slightly tiring for ADD members of the audience like me.

17 raindrops:
i havent seen da vinci code yet and i have not a single plan to watch this one either :)
sometimes some stories cannot be done justice with on the big screen!
i m glad you found it worthy :)
I LOVED this film! But, I must say you would have had to have read the book to appreciate it in all its glory! :)
I totally agree with AD, i myelf have read the book 74.5 times and i would not want to spoil it by watching the film which would most likely not do justice at all. ahem.
Would you say one needs to have read the book to appreciate the movie?
That would depend on the 'one'
AD I agree with you, that's the Harry Potter books for me, I hate how they've adapted them on the big screen.Tut.
boba Awww, shame on me for not reading it beforehand then.
unnamed child :( It's my deepest regret that you feel this way, maybe the cinemas aren't for you? [that's a shame though :( ]
Xeb Probably, I dunno really. I think film makers change novel concepts and leave out bits just to give it the 'Hollywood' factor *shrugs*
geekazoid Maybe.
hfm - i think you are very right and left..some might say ur complete. I don't mind the cinemas so long as i'm with good company? and by good company i mean people who eat popcorn and let me hear them eat it? hmmm yummm
Nooo not maybee....just Bonjour!
would definitly watch as the first book i ever read was this, so am so into this as soon as my exams finish this would be the first film to watch and ufff the story is amazing but yes typical dan brown stuff :)
and oh his new book is about to release too !!
unnamed child Oh you greedy bugger. Like you don't get that already.
geekazoid Hahah, you French fry.
Ubaid I'm not a super fan of Dan Brown but I think it's great to watch if you're into films with lots of suspense.
the bad thing that happened with me was that i watched the Da Vinci Code before reading any work by Dan Brown. I hated the flick and decided not to read the book. I just happened to get hold of the Angels and Demons last week and started reading it. The book is just so amazing that I read it within two days. I just couldnt put it down. I think I will now read Da Vinci Code. My brother watched Angels and Demons yesterday without reading the book and he just loved it..saying it was wayy better than the Da Vinci Code.
The description of the film in one of the reviews I heard was "run-point-explain! run-point-explain!" Also, that Tom Hanks looked like an anxious potato, which I think he does for more than two hours.
Thanks for visiting me on No Chickadees. What a lovely blog you have. Great design as well. :)
though i used to be a dan brown fan..but ya i have always felt..
a) too much info in the books to digest
b) it does get a to be true..
but i loved the da vinci :/
and yes when books are good films dont get upto our expectation...that happened with da vinci..i felt the movie was tooo fast
hfm: i know im a greedy bugger, that's just the way i am but what can i dooo? i can't help iit :(
I think you'l find that i am in fact a french rice :P
